This book sounded like it would be a five-star read but unfortunately, it wasn’t.
I really enjoyed how authentic this book was. This book included the tone markings with Mandarin words and the author also explained the system and significance of tone markings in the beginning of the book. I have not read many books that include tone markings with mandarin words and explain them. I really liked that it was explained so that readers who don’t understand Mandarin would be able to understand the reason for the tone markings.

ME! I sound so lame 😂😂😂. I saw this floating around on the book blogging and booktube world, and I needed to do at least one wrap-up before the year-end wrap-up (I still haven’t written my Q1 reading wrap-up and I think it’s too late to do so). Naturally, I thought this tag was a great idea to use as a mid-year wrap-up.
Unfortunately, this didn’t really live up to my expectations. I didn’t love or hate this book, I just thought it was okay.
